Mets Owner Praises Randolph but Agrees with Firing

Mets owner Fred Wilpon said Monday “I think Willie did a good job. I think that the results the last, say, 14 months were not up to what we thought it had to be.” And he continued to say “What Omar finally decided was that he had to make that change.” No matter what is said by the Mets management after the fact does not matter. What they did to Willie Randolph was flat out horrible. How do you fly a guy out to California for a three game series and then win game one and fire him a couple hours after the game in the middle of the night. I understand not wanting to fire him on Fathers day but come on they had an off night that Thursday and could have easily dismissed him then. The point is the Mets are trying to make themselves look better by saying that Willie did a good job but what they are really saying is we look really bad in the media and need to look better.
