Mind Game: How the Boston Red Sox Got Smart, Won a World Series, and Created a New Blueprint for Winning by Baseball Prospectus.
This book was a great read if you like the Red Sox at all. If you dont like the Red Sox do not bother reading it. But the book goes into great detail about how the Red Sox dug themselves into the rut and then how the new regime in Boston really turned things around. This book was written after the 2004 World Series that the Red Sox won. This is a wonderful read for the average baseball fan.
Weaver on Strategy: Classic Work on Art of Managing a Baseball Team by Earl Weaver.
This book written by the great manager Earl Weaver. This is a great book if you grew up in the time period when the Orioles were actually good and you remeber Earl Weaver and all of his crazy outbursts. It is also a good book if you would like to know what it felt like to be a manager back in Weavers day because frankly the game has changed but it really gives you an understanding of what a manager goes through from spring training to the seasons end. Great Book for the avid baseball fan.
